PhotoLang ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it. By using the PhotoLang app or website, you agree to this policy.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Apple, we may receive your name and email from Apple, depending on your privacy settings.
Usage data. We store a count of how many times per day you use each feature (annotations, summaries, vocabulary, quotes) to enforce daily limits. This resets every midnight.
Support messages. If you contact us through the in-app support form, we collect the message text and your email address to respond to you.
Book page text. When you scan a page, your device extracts the text on-device. That text is sent to our server and forwarded to Google Gemini to generate annotations, summaries, vocabulary, and quotes. The text is not stored by us after the response is returned.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in Section 4.
We use the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
Your account data (email, usage counts) is retained for as long as your account is active. Book page text is not retained after the AI response is returned. If you delete your account, your data is deleted within 30 days.
PhotoLang is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users under 13 should have parental or guardian consent before using the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at team@photolang.com and we will delete it promptly.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at team@photolang.com.
We use industry-standard security practices: all data is transmitted over TLS, passwords are hashed by Supabase and never visible to us, and access to user data requires authenticated JWT tokens on every request.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of PhotoLang after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
For any privacy questions or data requests, contact us at team@photolang.com.
